Germany: The East Blackwood Company wants to invite you to celebrate the opening of their new tavern near the Black Pier and the trade possibilities it brings. Come enjoy a night of drink, games, and merriment as we celebrate the First Night at the Salty Stick.

A long afternoon of drinking to toast the Grand Opening of the East Blackwood and Realms Embassy in the Western Seal, Ambassador Dagger, Sayeh, Djako, Marik and Varn sat down with Sir Valdemar and Fia of the Bracar Keltoi to finish off the remaining stock of wine... One thing led to another and soon the idea for a tavern came about. Fia named it, The Salty Stick!

Dogs:  Unfortunately, no animals are permitted on the location.

Food: We will provide a buffet platter of various meats, cheeses, crackers, fresh bread and other such items. There will also be a soup provided. You can use the kitchen to prepare your own food if what is provided is not enough.

Drinks:  The tavern will provide Drinks that are non-alcoholic which is part of your ticket price. Alcohol provided by the ticket will be available to you if you purchase tavern cards (That will be further explained at the Con). Beer and Rattler will be offered as the standard drinks sold at the Tavern. We will have limited supplies of mead, wine, schnapps and other drinks as well.

Thinks to Bring:  Blankets and pillows are included but if you want your own you can bring them. You should also bring a LARP weapon. You never know if anything may happen and a need of one could be present.

Cleaning:  At the end of the con before you leave, you have to clean the room you were in and make your bed. If you do not we will be charged for a cleaning service.

Early Arrival:  You can arrive as early as 16:30 on Friday.

Soft IT Start Time:  We will be easing into character and IT play around 17:30. Official IT and OT speeches will likely be given after most of the guests have arrived later that night.

Special Playable Areas: There is a small and low-earthen labyrinth on site. This can be used for magical purposes if you so choose to. Please just respect it and do not damage it during use.  There will be other playable areas on site.  We will give the details of those locations during the IT/OT Speech at the Con.

A year before the plagues and the natural and unnatural disasters, the East Blackwood Company requested the right to build a small harbor and tavern along the Blauer strom River just south of Drachenbrück, Zweiwasser. Margrave Balor the Red granted the E.B.Co permission. As soon as a small rebellion was put down in the region, construction began.

Now, that tavern has been completed, the East Blackwood Company is inviting merchants, sell-swords, travelers, tradesmen and women from all around to come and enjoy a weekend of revelry.  Yet with every small success comes with the possibility of those who would use those small victories for their benefit. If those moments will be for the betterment of the Realm or not remains to be seen.

The Salty Stick Tavern

The Salty Stick Tavern is located near the Black Pier just south of the City of Drachenbrück.  Drachenbrück the capital of the Margravate of Zweiwasser within the Realm of Roses.  

In the small hamlet that has started to spring up near the Black Pier in the shadow of Drachenbrück is also an East Blackwood Company warehouse. 

The Plot

The areas of the Black Pier and Schwarzheim need guards to protect their holdings and to defend the Zweiwasser citizens and travelers.  Who better to recruit into military service than ex-Zweiwasser soldiers?  Most of those "soldiers" served in the war in Kahl'hatra and were party to its horrors.  Some veterans went home to their families but others joined the Blackhand.  Are the two mutually exclusive?  

OT: Explanation

The plot for this Con is designed to add flavor and a potential base for future Cons. It should only serve to supplement the Con rather than dominate it as The First Night at the Salty Stick is primarily a Celebration/Ambiance (Feier/Ambiente) Con.  Still, there should be plenty of flavor weaved into the two Con days.

Tournaments

Corsican Mug

Two competitors fight with one-handed weapons against one another while holding a mug or stein of ale or some other drink in their off hands.  The goal is to either render the other unable to continue the fight or knock most of the fluid out of the other's mug or stein.  

The winner will get their choice of a prize of Coin or a Tavern Card paid for by Ambassador Dagger of Blackwood.

Farkel

At the beginning of each turn, the player throws all the dice at once.

The goal is to be the first one to reach a certain number of points which is defined at the start of the game.

After each throw, one or more scoring dice must be set aside - see sections on scoring below -

The player may then either end their turn and bank the score accumulated so far or continue to throw the remaining dice.

If the player has scored all six dice, they have "hot dice" and may continue their turn with a new throw of all six dice, adding to the score they have already accumulated. There is no limit to the number of "hot dice" a player may roll in one turn.

If none of the dice score in any given throw, the player has "farkled" and all points for that turn are lost.

At the end of the player's turn, the dice are handed to the next player in succession (usually in clockwise rotation), and they have their turn.

Each player uses their own dice.

Scoring

1 thrown - A one will yield 100 points

5 thrown - A five will yield 50 points

3 or more kind of any other number will yield 100 points multiplied by the given number, eg. three twos are worth 200 points (with one as an exception as three ones are worth 1000 points) - see example table below
